More in my new posting, tomorrow....] INCIDENT ADDENDA: FURTHER THOUGHTS ON THE SEASON 5 FINALE Below are three recent addenda to my 5/7/09 "Follow The Leader" posting.... Looks like we're in for some mind-stretching fun aboard tonight's plot-twisty roller-coaster Season 5 finale! 5/13/09- 7:50pm, CST, 10 minutes to showtime- Hmmm.... Yes what's up with Hurley and the guitar case.... Like Locke wearing Christian Shephard's wingtip shoes, is it Charlie Pace's guitar case, and will it enable someone to come back to life on the island, as did Locke? Or does the case contain some high explosives or a bomb... Or is the case itself made of C-4, which Hurley will detonate to rid himself of the numbers and the island....? Is this what sets the 'Incidental' chain of events in motion....? 5/13/09 Addendum-  And yes, if the Season 5 finale 'big rock in a pond' flash ends up granting Jack's wish, landing them back on the Oceanic Flight 815 to L.A. in 2004, what will happen to the party of Others led by Locke, heading up the beach to find Jacob? As I've proposed below and in other postings, I would not be surprised to learn that What Lies In the Shadow of the Statue is an entrance to Jacob's Lair, the nerve center, command control of the islandmind.... And after Locke confronts Jacob and learns of his true lineage (see below), the flash hits-- sending Jack et al. back to the 2004 Flight 815 heading into L.A.-- and sending Locke, the Others, Alpert, Ben, and Jacob not to 2004, but instead flashing them all the way back to a more ancient time, when the Four-Toed Statue was still intact.... While speculation has coalesced around a Taweret interpretation of the statue, leaning us toward a female visage (Juliet?), if it turns out to be a male statue, one strong candidate would be the Egyptian god Maahes, which I have linked in prior  postings to Locke.... If this turns out to be the case, then it may well be Locke's face on the statue.... Is this the final act in closing Locke's predestination loop.... traveling back in time via a not-so-incidental nuclear spacetime flash.... assuming his rightful, fateful role as leader of an ancient Egyptian Brotherhood of the Snake-like sect? And will he now follow through with relish and renewed purpose, on the act of killing his real father... Jacob? 5/12/09 Addendum- The Season 5 finale promises some shocking disclosures regarding Locke, and I would not be surprised to learn more about his father... his REAL father, that is!  How apropos was the foreshadowing symbolism as Ben offered up a totemically-restrained Anthony Cooper for sacrifice at the hand of one John Locke.... Armed with newly resurrected purpose, the risen Locke is pursuing Jacob, with knife firmly in hand.... Are they headed up the beach to the Four-Toed Statue, located near the entrance to JACOB'S LAIR? I can see it now.... Jacob under the shadow of Locke's looming knife-strike, calling out for mercy to the son he barely knew....For yes, we may ultimately learn that Locke is not a Christ-like SON OF GOD.... No, as per my myriad Brotherhood of the Snake postings this year, we may see Locke's true lineage revealed, not as the Son of God, but instead as the NEPHILIMIC SPAWN OF LUCIFER, FALLEN ANGEL, a.k.a. JACOB....  If the island is home to Lucifer and his band of fallen angels, then Locke may be one more in a line of Fallen Angel/Human hybrids, a.k.a. the NEPHILIM... What an intriguing 'reveal' that would be... I can see it now.... Locke with knife-wielding arm raised high, leaning over Jacob for the kill, when Jacob reveals Locke's true dark side lineage, disclosing that he/Jacob is Locke's real father, and admitting that Locke's abilities and his affinities with the island are due in no small part to his half-breed/hybrid status as part human, part fallen angel.... Yes, now it would be time in the soundtrack to cue that 70's kitsch classic by Sonny & Cher... "Half Breed..."Perhaps this will be the Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker 'plot mirroring' predicted by many of us, with Jacob playing Vader and Locke playing Luke.... How will Locke respond, when Jacob discloses that he is Locke's father and unpacks Locke's true destiny as The ANTICHRIST....! Locke ponders his true identity and destiny, poised with knife held high... when... all of a sudden.... Jack/Trashcan Man blows Jughead's mind, sending everyone and the island away to some as-yet-undisclosed spacetime Fate.... Leaving us fans to pick up the pieces of a newly recut puzzle.... Hang on.... help is on its way.... see below.... 5/11/09 Addendum- In accordance with my 5/7/09 posting below, if the Season 5 finale does serve up a nuclear flash-ful obliteration of the island as Trashcan Man  Jack makes a move to erase the past, I would not be surprised to see the Lost creative combine leave us hanging, wondering what will happen in Season 6 if many of our cherished Lost characters are wiped out, with the island.... As per Faraday's deleted-scene 'big rock in a pond' parable to illustrate the profound rippling effects arising from a nuclear detonation on the island, my posting below riffs on that view by exploring what might happen if Jack were to get his flash-ful wish, with the detonation serving to erase their island-related pasts, landing them back in their respective places at that very (fateful) moment in which Oceanic Flight 815 is hurtling toward Los Angeles....  One distinct possibility is that while it may appear that everyone is blasted to smithereens, what Jack did may have succeeded in pulling Faraday's 'big rock in a pond' spacetime rippling effect, flashing everyone back to the time of the 2004 Oceanic Flight 815. If the closing shot in the Season 5 finale is the bomb going off, then we might just well see the opening shot of Season 6 with Jack et al. back on the 2004 Flight 815, heading into L.A. My posting below explores some implications of Jack succeeding in erasing the past.... only to find that what he has done has actually made things far worse, through enacting the very cataclysmic disaster the DHARMA Initiative had been working so hard to avert....  This would indeed lead to a very interesting Season 6 involving many of the same characters, affording them interesting creative plot potentials as the characters would be generating relationships anew in the tabula rasa space resulting from the bomb blast rippling to rewrite (erase) their island-related past experiences.... If this were to play out, one of the central challenges for the characters to tackle in Season 6 would be to realize that this disastrous scenario (fate) might be averted, if they are able to somehow 'recover' their lost memories of the erased past, understandably poking through their new experiences in bits and pieces, as karmic flashpoints signaling a preferred alternate reality/path/fate.  This might provide one means of working the alternate reality angle without the potential confusion and apparent 'cheating' of invoking a multiverse approach. How intriguing it would be to see our cherished Lost characters blown away, blown back into 2004 at the moment of the Flight 815 crash on the island, only through the 'big rock' rippling Faraday described, the plane does not land on the island but instead actually  makes it to L.A. Yes, it would be interesting to watch them piece together the possibility that their new/current 'fate' is not what it was supposed to be, seeing them try to collectively piece together the meaning of the fleeting karmic memory flashes of their 'erased island past experiences'. In Season 6, will they finally put the puzzle together after Jack has erased their shared island past, grasping the need  to go back and recapture the Flight 815 crash in order to restore a more desirable fateline, saving huge numbers of lives in the process? Will they have to go to Uluru/Ayers Rock, to leverage the energy at that location to go back and rewrite their island-pasts back into the spacetime tapestries of their lives, in order to save the planet? Or, considering my 'polar shift' interpretation below... What if Flight 815 actually ends up landing in Australia instead of L.A., as the instruments are now 180 degrees off course....!
